Mr. Anthony Molena “Tony” Grant, age 86 of Jackson passed away early Wednesday morning, March 27, 2024, at his residence after a brief illness. Tony was a lifelong resident of Jackson. He was born Saturday, June 26, 1937, in Griffin to the late Earl and Daisy Pearl Turner Grant. He was a member of the Jackson High School Class of 1956. While attending JHS, Tony was the Captain and Quarterback of the football team and Captain of the basketball team. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served as a Morse Code Interceptor serving for 4 years in Germany. After returning home he attended Gordon Military College and began a career with Georgia Power, retiring as a Line Supervisor after over 30 years of service. Tony influenced the youth of Butts County for decades as an umpire and coach with the Butts County Recreation Dept. and working in the Booster Club at Jackson High School. He was a member of the Jackson Presbyterian Church, an avid golfer, and loved fishing in Alaska with family.
Along with his parents, Tony is predeceased by his wife of over 30 years, Gay Grant who passed away in 2015 and his brother Dennis “Skeeter” Grant. He is survived by 3 sons, Andy Grant, David Grant both of Jackson and Clint and Susie Stancil of Charlotte NC, sister-in-law Glenda Grant and nephew Adam Grant of Jackson.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Anthony Molena “Tony” Grant will he held Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 11 AM at the Jackson Presbyterian Church, Dr. Ed Hoard will officiate. The Family respectfully request that flowers be omitted, and donations be made to your favorite charity in Tony’s memory.
