Mr. Alan Christopher Wise, age 44 of Chamblee, GA and formerly of Jackson, passed away late Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, as a result of complications from a heart attack suffered a few days earlier. Alan was born Monday, August 6, 1979, in Griffin, GA.
Alan grew up in Jackson and graduated Jackson High School in 1997. He was active in High School sports including soccer, cross country track and basketball. He played trombone in the Red Regiment Band and the Valdosta State Blazin’ Brigade and graduated Gordon State College. Alan loved history and family genealogy, and was the fifth and last generation to live in the Brownlee Family home on Brownlee Road. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where he gave his heart to Jesus in 1990. He followed local, college and professional sports, especially the Red Devils, Atlanta United, Atlanta Braves, Georgia Tech and even the Falcons regardless of how they played. He volunteered with the Butts County Recreation Dept. and was an Assistant Soccer Coach at Jackson High School for several years. Alan enjoyed music, media, video, photography, and technology. He was employed as the Coordinator of Varsity Athletic Fields at Emory University.
Alan is survived by his wife of 7 years; Katie Rae Wise, one daughter; Mary Elizabeth Wise. Everyone that knew Alan knew how very much he loved Katie, Mary Beth, and his niece and nephews. He is also survived by his Father & Step Mother, William Michael (Mike) and Nancy Wise; Mother & Step Father, Charlene Brownlee Wise Bryson and Richard Bryson; his sister & brother-in-law, Rhonda Wise McMichael and Scott McMichael; niece and nephews, Drayton, Malone, Delaney and Kellan McMichael; Mother & Father-in-law, Lea & Charles Evick; Brother and sister-in-law, Nathan Evick and Jieun Kang Evick; nephew, Ian Evick; cousins Dave Cook, Aaron Brownlee, Ron Cook and Drew Brownlee along with many extended cousins and special friends.
A Funeral Service for Alan Christopher Wise will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Rev. Tommy Freeman will officiate. Interment will follow the Service in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. The Family will receive friends after the interment at Fresh Air BBQ.
