Ben Hill Dover

Ben Hill Dover, Sr., age 90, of Jackson, GA passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Macon Medical Center. He was affectionately known as “the Goat Man” for his love for animals, especially goats. He was born April 2, 1925 in Jasper County son of the late Auz Dover and Ruth Alexander Dover.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Butts County. Ben Hill was a former Mason He loved farming, his love for animals, fishing and hunting and his children and grandchildren.

He was retired from the Atlanta Army Depot and the Central Georgia Electric Membership Company.

Survivors include his wife of almost 69 years, Betty Ann Jones Dover, his children, Cherry Dover Butterworth, Ben Dover, Jr. and Vicki, Angie Dover Coleman and Tommy, Auze Dover and Leigh; seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tess Strickland.

Funeral services for Ben Hill Dover, Sr. will be Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson. Rev. Maxie Threatt will officiate with interment in the Macedonia Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8 PM and at other times at the Dover residence.
