Bernice Lee Hay Letson

Bernice Lee Hay Letson, age 89, affectionately known as “Snooks” to her family and many friends, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2017. She was born November 18 1928 in Butts County daughter of the late Bernus Ray (Tony) Hay and Hattie Lee Cooper Hay. She was employed by Southern Bell for 8 years.

Bernice graduated from Jackson High School in 1945. She had been a member of the Jenkinsburg Garden Club. She was a life-long member of the Jenkinsburg Baptist Church (now known as Watermark Church) where she taught Sunday School and Sunbeams for many years. Snooks loved the Lord and serving him, flowers, her grandchildren and animals.

Survivors include her daughters, Faith Letson Hardy and Donnie Hardy of Jackson and Joye Leigh Letson of Jenkinsburg; her grandchildren, Hope Conkle Lloyd, Robert Benjamin (Benji) Conkle, David Anthony “Tony” Conkle, and Royce England; great grandchildren, Braydon Kane Regan, Drew Leigh Lloyd, Benjamin Reece Conkle, Robert Sawyer, Desirae Skye Conkle, Cheyenne Lee Conkle, Adrian Thomas Conkle.

Funeral services for Bernice Lee Hay Letson will be Friday, December 1, 2017 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Jack Pickel and Mr. Bob Cooper will officiate. Interment will be in the Jenkinsburg Cemetery with Rev. Derek Miner officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 until 9 PM.

In lieu of flowers those desiring may make a contribution to the Gideons International, the Alzheimers Association or the Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
