Calvin Lamar Johnson

Calvin Lamar Johnson, age 92, of Jackson, GA passed away October 25, 2015 at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born September 7, 1923 in Butts County son of the late Cliff D. Johnson and Eliza K. Johnson. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell Tomlin Johnson in 1988, his loving companion, Elaine Hardy Johnson, his son Ricky Lamar Johnson, Sr. (the World Famous), granddaughter Denae Johnson, brothers, Wilford (Kink) Johnson, Richard Dewitt Johnson, sisters, Myrtle Johnson Hoard, Grace Johnson Baxter and Juanita Johnson Hardy. Survivors include grandchildren, Ricky (P-Nut)Johnson Jr., Lisa Johnson Weaver, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Calvin was an entrepreneur of his time. He was in the service station business for over 20 years (Amoco and Standard Oil). This was during the time where his clients received full service at his station. Calvin dearly loved his family. He also loved wrestling. He started a welding shop at his station which his son took over later. He also developed a machine that made block ice and crushed it. Calvin served in the United States Army during WWII in the 385th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. Following his retirement, Calvin was a greeter for Walmart for 16 years. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Haisten Funeral home from 11:00AM until 12 Noon when he will be carried to Jackson City Cemetery for services and military honors. Dr. Ed Hoard will officiate. Children at Christmas were very close to to Calvin. Many years he provided money for the unfortunate.
