Diana Louise Warren Brown passed away peacefully at her residence in Dunwoody, GA on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the age of 64. Diana was born in Americus, GA to Joseph Warren and Gloria (Gogi) Strickland Warren, granddaughter of Dr. R.B. and Louise Strickland of Americus and raised in Orlando, FL. She matriculated from the Ringling School of Art and Tift College. Diana held long term residences in Griffin, GA, Americus, and most recently Jackson, GA. She was a member of the Stark United Methodist Church in Jackson and had been a long time member of the Union Baptist Church in Spalding County, GA.
She was a loving mother, talented artist, and loved animals. She was active in the local art community and constantly working on new ideas and themes for her pieces. Diana was a member of the William McIntosh Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a proud direct descendent of Revolutionary patriot Peter Tondee of Savannah, GA. She enjoyed horseback riding, antiquing, and spending time with her family. She taught art for a number of years at Sumter County High School in Americus, as well as Jackson High School before her retirement in 2002. She was always a favorite teacher among students.
She is survived by her two sons and four grandchildren. Her oldest son Julian Alexander Brown III (Alex) of Sandy Springs, GA (wife Stacy), and his two children Kelsey Taylor Brown and Elaine Morgan Brown (Lainey). Her youngest son Joseph Bariman Warren Brown (Bari) of Manchester, GA (wife Deana) and his two children Garrett Tillman Brown and Grant Alexander Brown.
The family will be receiving visitors at Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson, GA on Saturday, January 2nd at 10:00AM followed by the service at 11:00AM. Dr. Ed Hoard will officiate. The interment service will be at Ellaville City Cemetery, 433 S. Broad St., Ellaville, GA 31806 at 2:00PM.
