Dorothy Veazey Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy Louise Barnett Veazey, age 95, passed away late Wednesday evening, June 25, 2025, at Autumn Village in Jackson, where she had resided for the last 4 years. Mrs. Veazey was born Sunday, May 11, 1930, in Hazlehurst, MS to the late Charles Leon & Rose Harville Barnett. She was employed with progressive responsibilities from 1948 until 1983 finally retiring as the CEO of the Navy Memphis Credit Union in Memphis, TN where she had resided for several years before relocating to Stockbridge. Mrs. Veazey was a member of the First Methodist Church of Stockbridge where she was very active in the Joyful Noisemakers until her health began to decline. Her favorite pastimes included reading, watching game shows, playing bingo and working crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Veazey is survived by her daughter & son in law, Sheryl Veazey-Rudy and John Rudy of Jackson, 2 grandchildren; Afton Rudy and David Rudy along with 2 great-grandchildren; Anna Rudy and Dylan Rudy in addition to her brother & sister-in-law, George William & Janet Barnett of New Market, AL. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert L. Veazey, and her daughter, Lisa Veazey together with 3 sisters; Mary Kemp Abel, Phyllis Olive Kemp Stephens, and Gladys Marie Kemp Tate as well as 2 brothers; Charles Robert Barnett and Joseph H. Barnett.
Services will be conducted later at the McKibbin & Guinn Funeral Home in Grenada, MS with interment in the Duck Hill Cemetery.
