Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jessup announces the death of Elizabeth Jeanette Carter, 86, of Jesup, Ga. who passed away, Monday, January 5, 2026. The Bacon County native had lived in Wayne County and was a member of Southside Church of God in Alma, Ga. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and a proud volunteer of the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. In her leisure time she enjoyed being with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Coleman Carter and son, Paul Tanner.
Survivors are 3 children; Timothy Tanner of Locust Grove, James Tanner of Jesup, and Teresa Marie Grimsley of Locust Grove, sisters, Linda Meeks, Gwen Rimes, and Judy Andrews, all of Alma; a brother, Danny Moore of Nahunta, several grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2026, from Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Todd officiating. Interment will follow in Gardi Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
