Mr. Harold Fincher Bowden, age 85, long term resident of the Worthville Community of Butts County, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Harold was born Tuesday, September 20, 1938, in Atlanta to the late Sarah Kirby and Hall Fincher Bowden. He graduated Henry County High School in the class of 1957. Harold joined the Air Force Reserves and served from 1958-1962. Throughout his life, Harold was a wonderful provider for his family, and he worked many jobs. He worked for the Henry County Fire Department, Georgia Power, Vulcan Materials, and as a Funeral Assistant for Haisten Funeral Home of Jackson. Harold also worked as a transportation and intake officer and retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections in 1995 with over 20 years of dedicated service. He proudly served as a deputy for the Butts County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Billy Leverette, and as a reserve deputy under Sheriff Gene Pope. He was a member of the Worthville Volunteer Fire Department. He also was a member of the Ancient York Masonic Lodge #127 for many, many years and enjoyed helping to prepare BBQ and stew for the annual Masonic BBQ dinner. Harold was a man of many skills. There was never a job too big or too small that he could not handle, and there was nothing that he could not fix. He had a passion for the outdoors, farming, camping, and animals. He enjoyed watching the Braves. Harold loved his family and friends, and absolutely adored his great- granddaughter, Kynleigh.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 65 years; Carolyn Ann Maddox Bowden, daughter; Lorrie Dean Ball, grandchildren; Carly Dean (Dallas Carden) and Jackson Ball, great-granddaughter; Kynleigh Carden, nephew; Eddie (Shannon) Hinton, extended family; John (Krystal) Shields, Sandy Arthur and Denise Hindle, and many special friends whom he loved dearly. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Hall and Sarah Bowden and his sister, Sarah Jane Bowden Hinton.
Visitation with the family will be at Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson, GA, Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Funeral services for Harold will be held at Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson, GA, Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 2:00PM with a Masonic graveside service following at Sardis Baptist Church cemetery.
