Henry Grady Pilcher III, age 74, of Jackson, GA passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Griffin, GA April 17, 1942 son of the late Henry Grady Pilcher II and Naomi Pressley Pilcher. He was a graduate of National Louis University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He was in the United States Navy for eleven years where he was an E-9. He served on the United States Aircraft Carrier Enterprise during the Viet Nam War. Mr. Pilcher was a poet and wrote a book of poetry, “With These Words”. He enjoyed Fishing, Rebuilding Classic Automobiles Games with his family and was a dedicated family man. He was an artist and played the guitar. He was a member of the Covington Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ruth Garrett Pilcher; children, Patty and Walton Burford, Jeffrey and Jin Pilcher, grandchildren, Dallas and Maggie Cowne, Wesley and Heather Burford, Craig and Alyse Young, Archer Pilcher. He had a son, Henry G. Pilcher IV that passed away in 2013. He had four great grandchildren and had a deceased half sister, Katrina Pilcher Hatfield.
Funeral services for Henry Grady Pilcher, III will be Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Winfred Dixson will officiate. Interment will be in the New Covington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6-8 PM.
