Howard Phillip Banks Obituary

Howard Phillip Banks, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence in Jackson, GA, on January 25, 2026, after an extended illness. Born on December 27, 1951, in Cedartown, GA, Howard lived a life marked by passion, creativity, and the love of his family.

Howard's early years in Cedartown were filled with the warmth of a close-knit community and the guidance of his loving parents, Howard and Frances Banks, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his devoted sisters, Linda Foutch and Rita & Mike Marchant. Howard's memory will be cherished by his extended family which includes his nieces and nephews, Carol & Lee Bennett, Marci & Tracy Carroll, Tracy & Scott Maner, Jason & Courtney Overby, and Jennifer Marchant, his uncles and aunts, George Morris, Charles & Sharon Morris, Clifford & Carole Morris, and Janie & Charles Durham. Their shared moments and family bonds are a testament to the life Howard lived.

Before retiring, Howard had been employed by American Woodmark, where he was respected for his work ethic and camaraderie. His true passion, however, was landscaping, a profession that allowed him to express his creativity and love for nature. Howard's hands shaped the earth into beautiful gardens, leaving a legacy of growth and renewal that will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of witnessing his craft.

Howard was a talented musician who once graced the stage with his band at Six Flags over Georgia and performed at Jimmy Carter's Gubernatorial Inauguration. His love for music was only matched by his love for old movies, which he enjoyed watching on Netflix.

At Howard's request, there will be no services. His life was one of quiet dignity, and his wish was for those who knew him to remember the joy and the beauty he brought into the world. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to inspire and comfort his family and friends.
