Irven Brantley Middlebrooks

Irven was born November 30, 1927 in Vienna, GA to Jesse and Ada Middlebrooks.
He joined the Merchant Marines after graduating from high school in Marshalville, GA serving from 2 years before being drafted into the Army where he served three years in Germany during the occupation after WWII.
After his discharge, while living in Marshalville, he was Market Manager for Colonial Stores for 5 years in Perry, GA.  In 1955, he married Frances Hughes from Bradenton, FL and they moved to Perry.  During this time, he graduated from United Electronic Laboratories Technical school in Lexington, KY.
Moving to Palm Beach Gardens, FL. in 1962, he was employed at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft where he worked for 32 years as plant engineer, retiring in 1992.
In Palm Beach Gardens, he was on the board of trustees of Trinity United Methodist Church and was president of the PTA at the elementary school where his daughter attended.
In 1994, he and his family moved to Jackson, GA where he has been active in the Jackson United Methodist Church serving at times on the board and president of the Methodist Men's Club there.  He also served as president of Kiwanis, Chairman of the Butts County Zoning Commission and member of the Arts Council.
He served 25 years on the board of directors of Indian Springs Camp Ground in Flovilla, GA where he was business manager for 10 of those years.  He was also grounds committee chairman and chairman of the cottage holders' committee among other duties.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, daughter and son-in-law, Don and Dianne Knippel of Palmdale, CA and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson, GA on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 1:00PM with the Rev. Chris Shurtz officiating.  Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  There will be a private, family graveside service at the Jackson City Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to the Indian Springs Campground or the Jackson United Methodist Church.
