James Crawford Redman
Mr. James Crawford Redman, age 69, died peacefully on September 8, 2016. He was born in Decatur, Georgia on June 14, 1947, the son of the late Max Redman and Ruth Lane Redman.
Mr. Redman graduated from Jackson High School in 1965 and received his Bachelor’s degree in Urban Renewal from Georgia State University in 1972. He began his career with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier while still in high school. Mr. Redman began farming in 1968 and farmed over 300 acres of wheat, corn, and soybeans in Butts County until 1994. He was the Outstanding Young Farmer of 1980 for Butts County.
In 1970, Mr. Redman began working in the mail room of Equifax. During a career that spanned 39 years, he continued his education, held many different positions, and retired from computer programming as the Most Distinguished Member of the Technology Department in 2009. Mr. Redman held three patents relating to information systems and management with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. His contributions to the Equifax Data Systems that operate today and certainly back to the 1970s are numerous, and most important to the success that Equifax is enjoying today. Mr. Redman and his team developed many systems, including "L90", which outpaced expectations and exceeded what competitors were providing. According to his colleagues, the Fair Trade Commission was blown away at what the team accomplished. Most notably, the changes implemented by Mr. Redman and his team are still the foundation of systems today at Equifax. He continued working as a Consultant for Equifax for seven more years, as he was very passionate about his work.
He enjoyed travelling, playing guitar, working on his tractors, and most of all, cutting his grass. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Edwina Lynch Redman, whom he met when he was seven years old. Survivors also include his sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Kim Bishop, and Max and Amanda Redman; his daughter and son-in-law, Deline and Brian Mauro; his grandchildren, Ansley Wilson, David Bishop, AJ Mauro, and Hannah Redman; and his sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Donnie Thaxton.
