James Hale Woodward, age 97, of the Jackson Lake community passed away early Sunday morning, November 12, 2017 at the residence of his son in Covington.
He was born in Atlanta, GA September 1, 1920 son of the late B. Frank Woodward and Eva Lillian Hale Woodward. He attended Boy’s High and graduated from Tech High in Atlanta. He had been in the United States Navy during WWII. He was stationed at Camp Gordon in Atlanta and was assigned to airplane maintenance. He greatly enjoyed fishing and Nascar. He was a Charter Member of the Jackson Lake Homeowner’s Association. He was employed by the Carnation Company retiring in 1982, and the Butts County Recycling Center, retiring in 2010.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Trish Woodward of Covington, GA.; six grandchildren, Jimmy and Brooke Woodward, Flowery Branch, GA, April and Jason Johnston, Flowery Branch, GA, Eric and Tiffany Woodward, Stockbridge, GA, Evan and Nicole Woodward, Hampton, VA, Megan and Joe McKenzie, Villa Rica, GA nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Pendley Woodward, son, Frank Daniel Woodward and grandson, Brian Lamar Woodward.
Funeral services for James Hale Woodward will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson. Dr. James Barry Woodward and Barry Woodward, Sr. will officiate with interment in Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, Nov. 17th from 6 – 8 PM. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make a contribution to the Jackson Lake Homeowner’s Association, P. O. Box 795, Jackson, GA 30233.
