Jane Lofton Obituary
Jane Jenkins Lofton, age 64, of Jackson, GA passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at Spalding Regional Hospital. Jane was born February 17, 1951 daughter of the late Lloyd Harold Jenkins and Dorothy Maples Jenkins.
Jane was a 1969 graduate of Jackson High School. She received her undergraduate degree from Clayton State College and her Masters and Specialists Degrees from the University of Georgia.
Jane was a “people person” who never met a stranger. To know Jane was to love her. Before her retirement, she served as Food Service Director for the Clayton County School System and had been employed by the Butts County Board of Education. Most recently, she worked part time for PMR Distributing as a School Sales Representative, and independently as a ServSafe instructor. She was an active member of Stark United Methodist Church and Jackson Lake Homeowners Association.
Jane was an active person, who loved being outdoors and traveling. She enjoyed spending her time playing golf, tennis, waterskiing and riding on the boat and Jet ski, dancing zumba, camping, traveling, being with friends, and watching her grandkids play sports. Jane was always up for an adventure and lived every day to the fullest.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Lofton; daughter, Laree Zant and husband, Dr. Dan Zant and grandchildren Carolina Zant and Maclane Zant all of Madison, GA; son, Jimmy Lofton; sister, Donna Green, brothers, Buster and Rachael Jenkins, Mike Jenkins, Danny and Cathy Jenkins and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Jenkins Norton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at Stark United Methodist Church Saturday, January 9 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00-11:00, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stark United Methodist Church or The American Cancer Society.
