Joel William Fincher

Mr. Joel William Fincher, 93 of Jackson died March 23, 2019. He was born February 27, 1926 in Newton County, Georgia to the late Sim and Georgie Kitchens Fincher. Mr. Fincher served in World War II in the United States Navy and then retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base in April 1985. After his retirement, he served as a Bailiff for the Butts County Courts for many years. He also served as a long-time member of the Teller Team at First Baptist Church. Mr. Fincher was also a member of the St. John’s Masonic Lodge # 45. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. He was also preceded in death by his grandson Kenneth Wade Rooks.

Mr. Fincher is survived by his wife of 75 ½ years Emma Lou “Lucy” Fincher, daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Robert Rooks, Marsha and Don Knight. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jeff and Angela Rooks, Luann and Stan Maddox and Allison and Dennis Shields, six great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, brother Carroll Fincher of Covington, GA and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Joel William Fincher will be at Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson on Monday, March 25, 2019 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Jackson with Rev. Keith Joseph and Rev. Cary Snelling officiating. Interment will be in the Jackson City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Greater Things Building Fund, 1227 W. Third St., Jackson, GA 30233.
