Johnnie Faye Steverson Obituary

Mrs. Johnnie Faye Steverson, affectionately known as Faye, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on July 3, 1941, in Lax, Georgia, Faye was a beacon of love and faith throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.                                                             
Faye was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving daughters, Donna Powell of Dahlonega, Diedrea & Jim Claxton of McDonough, Dana McKinney of Jackson, and Direnda & Hank Lohmann of Locust Grove. Her legacy continues through her ten cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Lacey Kaminski, Kayla Claxton, Jimmy Claxton, Zachary Lohmann, Dannah Lohmann, Madison Lohmann, Hannah McKinney, and Emma Morian, as well as her adored great-grandchildren, Robin Pope, Taylen Pope, Cade Lohmann, Maverick Kaminski, and James Robert Claxton IV.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband of 42 years, John Henry Steverson, her parents, George Jake Harper and Julie Bertie Law Harper, her stepmother Aileen Harper (Big Mama), her sister, Ozella Law Huff, and her brother, Russell Jake Harper.                                                            
Faye's professional life was marked by 31 years of dedicated service as a Bookkeeper for the Henry County Board of Education. Her commitment to her community extended beyond her work as she was an active member of Watermark Church. Faye's passion for her faith was evident in her involvement with Operation Christmas Child and her role as a Bible School Teacher.
Her legacy is one of sharing the love of God and His salvation. Faye was known for her kindness and generosity, often expressed through her love of cooking and baking for her church family and friends. An avid gardener, she found joy in sharing the beauty of her garden and plants with anyone who had a shovel in hand.
The service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Johnnie Faye Steverson will be held at Haisten Chapel on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11 AM, with Pastor Jack Pickel officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 AM prior to the service. The burial will follow at 4 PM in the Lax Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery in Lax, GA.
Faye will be remembered as a loving and caring individual whose presence was a gift to all. Her unwavering love, faith, and the joy she brought to others will be deeply missed. Her spirit will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
