Johnny Kinard Obituary

Mr. Johnny Andrew (Andy) Kinard age 82 of Jackson, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, March 1, 2023 at his residence.  Andy was born August 10, 1940 in Griffin GA to the late John Robert Kinard and Rosa Havis Ogletree.  He was also preceded in death by his late brother-in-law Herbert Carlton Brook of Temple TX.

Survivors include the only sparring partner he truly loved of 63 years, his wife Shirley Brook Kinard; son and daughter-in-law Robbie and Karen Kinard, daughter and son-in-law Renae and Dean Griffin, all of Jackson.  Brother Dan Kinard of Griffin, and Bonnie Kinard Wise of Leesburg GA; nephew Scott Kinard of Griffin and nieces Beth Jones and Alice Mobley of Griffin GA, and Lake City FL, respectively.  Grandchildren, Devin Reeves, Derian Adams, Aly Kinard, Dane Adams, and Bryce Kinard.  Sister-in-law Linda Brook, along with nephew and niece Michael and Amanda Brook all of Temple TX.  Also included are extended family members Richard, Brandi, and Lavanna Miley, Lexie Campbell and Sandy Barnes; seven great-grandchildren and relatives.

A graveside service for Mr. Johnny Andrew (Andy) Kinard will be held Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Bryce Kinard officiating.  The family will not host a formal visitation.

Andy was a 1958 graduate of Jackson High School.  He began working at the Central Georgia EMC shortly after graduation and retired as a former lineman and foreman with over 40 years of dedicated service.  He proudly served many years in the Georgia Army National Guard and was a Master Mason with membership in the St. John’s Lodge of Jackson; and was a life-long member of the Fellowship Presbyterian Church.  Andy loved spending time with his family and friends.

Andy also had a knack for fixing or repairing old motors, chainsaws, weed trimmers etc.  On several occasions he would fix things even if they weren’t broken.  Many remember the old, dented Chevrolet truck he drove all over the state of Georgia and him often saying it “had been hit by everything but lightening.”

However, the most important thing he ever fixed was his childhood belief in Jesus Christ.  On his death bed he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.  The family would like to extend a special Thank You for the many prayers of the members of Towaliga Baptist Church.  We would also like to send a very special Thank You to Ms. Pat Peek, Rudy Mangham and Bryce Kinard for ensuring Andy’s salvation.
