Katie Gibson Kilby

Katie Lloyd Gibson Kilby, age 84, of the Jackson Lake Community, Monticello, GA, passed away April 30, 2018 at Rockdale Medical Center, Conyers, GA. She was born in Covington, GA September 7, 1933 daughter of the late Ernest William Gibson and Florence Alston Gibson. She was wife of the late Neal Barton Kilby who passed away in 1996. She graduated from Bass High School and received her Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education from Georgia State University. She taught school and was a Library Media Specialist in Jasper County, GA.

Katie was a member of the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church in Athens, GA. She was a member of the Azalea Garden Club and several bridge clubs.

Survivors include her sons, Russell and Shelia Kilby and Dean Gibson Kilby; three grandchildren, Bo and Mia Kilby, Russell Kilby and Cameron Kilby; great grandchildren, Maddox and Nate Kilby; brother, Norman Douglas and Louise Gibson and two cousins.

Funeral services for Katie Lloyd Gibson Kilby will be Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Elder Kenneth Adams will officiate with interment in the Gibson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 PM.
