Lewis Washington Obituary

Lewis Wayne Washington, age 83, of Jackson, GA passed away Tuesday morning. December 18, 2018 at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, GA following an illness of several years. He was born October 6, 1935 in Jackson son of the late Luther Joseph Washington and Mildred Inez Maddox Washington. He was husband of the late Paulette and Jackie Washington.

Lewis was a 1954 graduate of Jackson High School. He served in the Georgia National Guard for nine years. He was self employed as a grading contractor for many years. He was a home builder and also had rental properties. He served as a Director for 25 years at Snapping Shoals EMC. He loved wood working and gardening. He could build furniture and almost anything. From his garden he would can pickles, relish and would freeze any other vegetables and fruit. He loved riding his motor cycle with a group of his friends. He loved God and his church where he was a member of Stark United Methodist Church. He would assist in cooking breakfast for Sunday School and helped with his Methodist Mens Club in preparing the chicken Stew several times a year.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Brenda Butler; daughter, Cindy Washington; those preceding him in death were sisters and brother, Iris Fortenberry, Jean Adams, Larry Washington; grandchildren, Danny and Joey Washington and Carrie Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Lewis Washington will be Thursday morning December 20, 2018 at 11AM at the Stark United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Soulen officiating. You may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the Stark United Methodist.
