Linda Joyce (Adair) Rice

Mrs. Linda Joyce Adair Rice, age 85 peacefully passed away at her Jasper County residence Wednesday, May 24, 2023, with her loving Family at her side. Mrs. Rice was born Wednesday, September 1, 1937, in Detroit Michigan to the late William and Effenia Stockton Adair. Mrs. Rice graduated from Eustice High School in 1955 and attended Business School before settling into her career with the Atlanta Board of Education where she served as the Purchasing Agent for 36 years, retiring in 1997. After her retirement she helped her son at the Yard Stop here in Jackson, she was there working every day as recent as three weeks ago. She loved painting, going to the beach and spending time with her Family.

Linda is survived by her son & daughter-in-law; Jeff & Deborah Shockley and her daughter & son-in-law; Sharon & Sam Sullivan of Jackson in addition to three grandchildren; Zack Whitwell and Garett Whitwell both of Jackson and Harley Shockley of Griffin.   Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her late husband Kenneth Shockley and the late Awyer Rice.

A memorial Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Linda Joyce Adair Rice will be held Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Cameron Shifflett will officiate. The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home for one hour immediately prior to the service.
