Linda Arlene (Fincher) Rooks

Mrs. Linda Arlene Fincher Rooks, age 79, of Griffin and formerly of Jackson passed away at her residence Monday evening, June 17, 2024, after an extended illness with her family at her side. She was born Tuesday, August 1, 1944, in Newton County to the late Joel and Emma Lou “Lucy” Fincher. Linda was a member of the Jackson High School class of 1962. She had retired as an accountant with the Georgia State Dept. of Corrections with over 20 years of service. Linda was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson since her childhood.  She was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class and the Greeters Team, she also worked with the Hand N Hand Food Pantry Team. Her first love was her Family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Before her health began to fail, she enjoyed making trips to the beach.  

Linda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Rooks, her son and daughter in-law, Jeff & Angela Rooks all of Griffin, 3 grandchildren; Austin Rooks Raybon, Nathan Rooks and Alex Rooks, 2 great Grandchildren; Caroline Raybon and Rooks Raybon, her sister and brother in-law Marsha and Don Knight. In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Wade Rooks.

Funeral services for Linda Arlene Fincher Rooks will be conducted Saturday, June 22, at 1 PM in the Sanctuary of The First Baptist Church of Jackson, Rev. Keith Joseph will officiate. Interment will follow the Service in the Jackson City Cemetery. You may visit with the family, for one hour immediately prior to the Service at the Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Jackson, 1227 West 3rd St., Jackson, Ga 30233 in Linda’s memory.
