Lona Frances “Fran” Holston, age 92 and formerly of Jackson, GA, peacefully passed away late Friday afternoon March 18, 2022 at the Hearthstone Assisted Living Center in Roswell, Georgia. Fran was born Saturday January 18, 1930 in Edgefield County, South Carolina to the late Van Lee and Evelyn Scott Patterson. She was married to Dr. Francis "Frank" Holston for 44 years until his death in July of 1999. She was a graduate of Blue Mountain College in Mississippi. After graduation she began a career that involved many areas of work, volunteering and serving her Lord. During her career she was a teacher at Henderson High School and a volunteer at Georgia Baptist Hospital. Beginning in 1969 Fran and Frank served with Wycliffe Bible translators as medical missionaries in Peru, South America. Fran was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, GA, where over the years she was a Sunday School teacher and very involved in various church ministries.
Along with her parents and her husband, Fran is preceded in death by her brother, Edward Patterson and Sister, Erie Dodd. Fran is survived by sons, Lee (and Karen) of Marietta, GA; Joe of Dacula, GA; by daughters, Lyn (and Mark) Wickman of Bend, OR; Jane Holston of Marietta, GA; and Alicia (and Todd) Ellis of Cumming, GA; by seven grandchildren, Joseph, Lindsay, Drew, Micah, Sophia, Holt and Brock and one great grandson, Ericson Holston.
Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday March 22, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Rev. Keith Joseph will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the Jackson City Cemetery. You may visit with the family two hours immediately prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home.

Fran was a great cook, a hostess with a capital “H”, had a ready smile/laugh and loved people. Some of her final words demonstrated her deep and simple faith: “The Lord has been gracious to me and I can’t do anything but praise Him for His faithfulness."
