Mack Arthur Whitaker

Mr. Mack Arthur Whitaker, age 75, peacefully passed away at his Jenkinsburg residence Saturday morning March 11, 2023, after an extended illness. Mack was born in Jenkinsburg on December 28, 1947, to the late Glenn and Eula Mae Whitaker. Mack was a lifelong resident of Butts County and a member of the Jenkinsburg United Methodist Church. He was a proud Veteran and served four years with the United States Air Force. For more than thirty years, Mack was a parts specialist at Mercer Truck and Tractor. In 1999, Mack became a driver for Walker Concrete where he was promoted to Dispatcher in 2007, and eventually retired in 2014.

As often as possible, Mack could be found outside wearing his straw hat, happily working in his yard and tinkering on as many projects as possible. An avid animal lover, it wasn’t unusual for him to be found petting a cat or dog that had instantly fallen in love with him. Most of all, though, Mack loved his family. He leaves behind his wife of 13 years, Kathy Whitaker, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Ryan Shepherd, his son and daughter-in-law David and Casey Whitaker, and his grandchildren Eaton, Carver and Lola Whitaker. Mack is survived by his siblings Carl and Dot Whitaker, and Patsy and Bryan Maddox. In addition to his parents, Mack is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Martha Whitaker (d. 2004), and siblings Joe Ricky Whitaker, Lamar Whitaker, and Ruby Fauscett.

Funeral Services for Mack Arthur Whitaker will he held Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Rev. Glenn Vogel will officiate burial will follow in the Jenkinsburg City Cemetery. You may visit with the Family, Wednesday evening, March 15th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home or Thursday, March 16th immediately prior to the Service, beginning at 1:00 PM.
