Margaret Fletcher Knight, age 74, of Jenkinsburg, GA passed away June 7, 2017 at home. She was employed by Southern Bell for ten years, then started and ran the family business ,Stockbridge Awning Co. (DBA Knights Mobile Home Moving)for almost 50 years. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lucille Cooper Fletcher, and her twin brother, Marlin Fletcher.
Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, Lanier Knight, son, Joe Knight and wife Dawn, Daughter Beth Knight, extraordinary granddaughter Jolie Knight, and brother Bennie Fletcher and wife Marilyn and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret, 1960 Jackson High School Valedictorian, was elected by her peers to four superlatives including most intellectual, most dependable, most likely to succeed, and most athletic. She enjoyed sports playing basketball and softball in addition to being a majorette.
Margaret was a genuine Christian lady, was very active in England Chapel United Methodist serving as Sunday School Teacher, pianist, lay leader, and maid. She was also very active in the United Methodist Church on the district, conference, and general conference level. She served as treasurer on the general board of church and Society in Washington, DC for many years.
Funeral services for Margaret Knight will be Friday, June 9, 2017 at 1:00PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home in Jackson, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11AM – 1:00PM.
