Martha (Barnes) Colwell

Mrs. Martha Barnes Colwell, age 88, of Jackson passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Eternal Hope Healthcare. Martha was born in Henry County Georgia on Saturday, February 3, 1934, to the late Homer and Mattie Thompson Barnes. Her sisters Dollie Whatley, Margie McCranie, and Nita Huckaby, also precede her in death. She was a member of Towaliga Baptist Church where she joined at an early age. Martha graduated from Jackson High School in the Class of 1952. She retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections. Martha was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her Church family, reading and traveling. Martha is survived by her husband of 68 years, Johnny Colwell; children: Tim (Terry) Colwell, Cary (Shelly) Colwell, Melanie (Mike) Horne; grandchildren: Christa (Bill) Conn, Cassie (Nick) Zika, Chaz (Hannah) Curtis, Stephanie (Brandon) Pierce, Josh (Kayte) Colwell, Landon Colwell, Justin (Anna) Horne, Jonathan (Calli) Horne, Megan Horne; great grandchildren: William and Carsyn Conn, Owen, Thomas and Matthew Zika, Charlee Defore, Seth Curtis, Render, Ivy, Harper-Grace and Sutton-Rose Pierce, Davis and Charlie Colwell, Eli Horne, and Ella and Emmie Horne.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Martha Barnes Colwell will be held Monday, January 30, 2023, at 12 Noon in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Mr. Rudy Mangham will officiate. Interment will follow the Service in the Fellowship Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The Family will receive friends immediately prior to the Service, beginning at 10:00 AM.
