Mary Elizabeth Meadows Douglas, age 96, peacefully passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 11, 2022, at Autumn Village Assisted Living Center where she had resided for the last several years. Elizabeth was born Saturday, July 24, 1926, in the former Milton County, GA to the late Charlie and Mamie Lord Meadows. She was the wife of the late Bennie Harold Douglas who passed away in April of 2002. Elizabeth was a graduate of Decatur Girls High School and was a retired secretary for the Southern Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of the Sylvan Grove Hospital Authority, AARP, and actively involved with the Relay for Life for as long as her health allowed. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her son; Barry Douglas, son and daughter in law; Mark & Kathi Douglas all of Jackson, one grandson; Chad Douglas of Lizella, along with three great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Douglas, who passed away in 2009.
A Memorial Service for Mary Elizabeth Meadows Douglas will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Pastor Howard Greer will officiate. Inurnment will follow the Service in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The Family will receive friends immediately prior to the Service beginning at 10:00 AM.
