Mr. Millard Kelvin Hamlin, age 59 of Jackson, passed away late Thursday evening January 25, 2024, at Piedmont Newton Hospital after an extended illness. Kelvin was born Sunday, August 9, 1964, in Griffin, GA to the late Connie Johnson and the late Red Hamlin he lived his entire life in Jackson and graduated Jackson High School in the class of 1982. He had a vast knowledge of many occupations. He was a certified machinist and had been employed by Avondale Mills, and Snapper Equipment. He also had experience in other areas of employment such as Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts and Parts Central he had been a long-haul driver before ending his career at Cooks Wrecker and Garage, where he served as a dispatcher before ill-health forced his retirement. His favorite pleasures in life included riding motorcycles, spending time with his friends, going to the Ocmulgee River and enjoying a good cold beer.
Kelvin is survived by two sons; Justin Hamlin and Cody Lenniger, his stepfather; Colin Johnson of Jackson and extraordinary friends and caregivers; Randy Cook and Jennifer Smith, both of Jackson and Brenda Lawrence of Griffin. Kelvin mentored Brayden Smith in his youth and always considered him a son, even though they were not actually related. Along with his parents, Kelvin is preceded in death by his brother, Danny Glenn Hamlin and a sister, Janet Hamlin.
