Millard Lee Shives

Mr. Millard Lee Shives, age 87 of Monticello, passed away Tuesday evening, June 3, 2025, with his family at his side. Mr. Shives was born Wednesday, August 4, 1937, in Hancock, MD to the late Millard Joseph Shives and Marguerite Cane Shives. He was a graduate of Hancock High School in Hancock, MD. After High School he began a distinguished 35-year career with U.S. Silica, retiring as Superintendent then went to work with King & Spalding in maintenance and retired again after 15 years of dedicated service. He was an enthusiastic hunter and took great pleasure in riding his Harley.

Mr. Shives is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Shives, sons and daughters-in-law; Stephen & Noel Shives of Lexington, SC and Daniel & Kelly Shives of Monticello, 5 grandchildren; Christine Shives, Stephanie Steinberg, Candice Peeples, Brandon Shives and Hayden Shives, brothers & sisters-in-law; Chester Eugene and Eloise Shives of Climax, NC and Kenneth & Jan Shives of Hagerstown, MD, sisters and brothers-in-law; Dolly & Orville Trumpower of Hagerstown, MD along with Elaine & Bub Steiner of Myrtle Beach, SC. in addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings; Chester Eugene Shives and Elaine Steiner.
