Robert A. (Bobby) Watkins

Mr. Robert A. (Bobby) Watkins, age 86 and a lifelong resident of Jackson, peacefully passed away Wednesday evening, February 12, 2025, at the Westbury Center of Jackson where he had resided for the last 2 years. Bobby was born Sunday, July 10, 1938, son of the late Lem & Ruth Watkins. Bobby graduated Jackson High School in the class of 1958. After graduation he was drafted into the United Stated Army serving four years in Alaska. Bobby began his career with General Motors where he worked for 10 years before starting his business Watkins Redi Mix that he operated for 10 years and then became co-owner of Collins Trucking Company where he remained for the next 20 years until retirement. Bobby was a member of Rock Springs Church and St. John’s Masonic Lodge #45. He also was nominated and served on the board of the Selective Service System.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Faye Watkins, his daughters and sons-in-law; Rhonda (Rusty), Cindy and Tammy (Scott); his grandchildren: Cecily, Chance, Joseph, Tyler, Marli and Emma along with 9 great-grandchildren, sister, Julie Collins, sister and brother-in-law, Sherrie and J.E. Moncrief, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Bobby is preceded in death by his brother Jerry, two sisters Carol Fambrough and Sue Hardy, and his brother-in-law, best friend and former business partner, Mac Collins. 

A Funeral Service for Mr. Robert A. (Bobby) Watkins will be conducted Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends immediately prior to the Service, beginning at 1:00 PM.
