Sandra "Boonie" (Smith) O'Neal

Mrs. Sandra Smith (Boonie) O’Neal, age 83 of Jackson, passed away late Sunday night, August 13, 2023, at Piedmont Henry Hospital. Boonie was born in Atlanta to the late Thomas Harry Smith and Kitty Maude English Smith on Monday, April 1, 1940. She had been married to the late Allen Dennis (Denny) O’Neal for 55+ years at the time of his death in January of 2016.  Boonie was a member of the Jackson High School Class of 1958, and had been employed as the Business Manager at the Jackson Progress-Argus for many years until her retirement in the early 1990’s. She was a faithful and active member of the Jackson United Methodist Church for most of her life.

Survivors include her son; James Gregory (Greg) O’Neal of Jackson, sons & daughters in-law Thomas Byrd (T. Byrd) & Johana O’Neal of Sharpsburg, and Matthew Allen (Matt) & Chrissy O’Neal of Peachtree City; five grandchildren Jackson, Gracen, Eden, Jayden and Kaysan O’Neal, along with her siblings; Brenda Maddox and Ryland Smith both of Jackson.

You may visit with the Family, Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Funeral Home between 6 & 8 PM. A private Family inurnment will take place at a later date.
