Mr. Stanley “Skip” Ray Morse, age 88, of Jackson, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Westbury Center of Jackson for Nursing and Healing.

Skip was born on Friday, September 10, 1937, and was raised in Middlegrove, Illinois. He attended Farmington Schools in Farmington, Illinois, where he played football. Later in life, he proudly served in the United States Army and Navy. While stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, he honed his skills as a diesel mechanic, a profession that instilled in him a strong work ethic and practical experience. These experiences later served him well as a technician with United Pump & Control, a Service Manager with Walker Oil Co., and a supervisor with Dollar General in the years that followed.

After his military service, Skip dedicated his career to working for various companies that specialized in installing and servicing fuel pumps. He was renowned for his reliability, hard work, and dedication to his craft. Skip took immense pride in his work and believed in the value of honest labor. He carried that same spirit into every aspect of his life.

Skip held several esteemed affiliations, including being a Master Mason, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. These affiliations reflected his deep appreciation for fellowship, service, and tradition. He cherished the bonds of brotherhood and the sense of purpose that came from being part of something greater than himself.

Skip was a beloved man known for his lively personality and a warm sense of humor, he will be remembered fondly by those that knew him. He found immense joy in helping others, doing yard work, and taking care of animals. His pet poodle, “Smokey, was his constant companion, but family held the greatest place in his heart. Skip was an enthusiastic dancer and bowler, flirting with the ladies, and was a die-hard fan of the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals and appreciated a good beer or beverage. His infectious laughter and zest for life made him the life of every party.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Violet Morse, and his daughter, Cheryl Zeglen, and his siblings, Ethel Miller, Dorothy Lancaster, Tim Morse, Danny Morse, and Kathleen Geeseman, who passed away one day after Skip.

Skip is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dianna Morse of Jackson. He has three children: Dan Morse (Marilyn) of Peoria, Illinois; Guy Morse of Springfield, Illinois; and Daryl Wulf (Deandra) of Locust Grove. He has seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren including one granddaughter who was born on his birthday, and one great-great granddaughter. His surviving siblings, Raymond “Beaner” Morse (Brenda) of Canton, Illinois; Patty Miller of Gilbert, Arizona; and Richard Morse (Nancy) of Greenwood, South Carolina, along with many nieces and nephews across the country.

In accordance with his wishes, Skip will be cremated, and his ashes will be scattered with his favorite dog” Smokey,” and his grand dog “Chloe.” A family Celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later date.
