Mr. Terry Ronald “Ronnie” Watts, age 74 of Jackson, peacefully passed away early Tuesday morning June 4, 2024, at Brightmoor Hospice after an extended illness.
Ronnie was born Tuesday, February 28, 1950, in Thomaston, GA. He graduated from R.E. Lee High School in 1968. Then he attended Norman Jr. College, Georgia Southwestern and Georgia College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership. Ronnie was a history teacher and coach at Washington County High School in Sandersville, GA for 13 years before relocating to Jackson, GA. He continued his career in education at Jackson High School for 17 years where he taught and coached until his retirement in 2002. Even after retiring he continued coaching the Red Devil Ladies Basketball team for several years.
Ronnie was a dedicated family man and an active member of Watermark Church. He loved people and would talk to anyone. He was an avid runner until his heart would not allow him to run anymore, but he continued moving as much as possible. He enjoyed driving his Jeep and taking his grandchildren on rides. He could often be found at Huddle House studying up on his favorite teams: the Atlanta Falcons, the Braves, and the Georgia Bulldogs. He also enjoyed studying the Word of God and sharing his faith in God with others.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Ruark Watts, his son and daughter-in-law: Jason and Jessica Watts of Jenkinsburg, and daughter and son-in-law: Terri and Michael Sherrard of Fayetteville, and 8 grandchildren: Aaron Sherrard, Journey Watts, Kaiden Sherrard, Easton Watts, Archer Watts, Kiley Sherrard, Conrad Sherrard and Allie Sherrard. He was preceded in death by his parents Lenora Bishop Watts and Roy Watts, Jr.
The Family will hold a Celebration of Life Service Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 2 PM at the Watermark Church. Pastor Jack Pickel will officiate. You may visit with the family at the Church on Friday evening June 7, from 6 until 8 PM.
