William Jones Moss, Jr. (“W. J.”) age 84, of Jackson, GA passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at his residence. He was born December 31, 1931 in Butts County son of the late W. J. Moss, Sr. and Lois Fogg Moss. He was a graduate of Jackson High School and was Captain of the football team where he was voted as the most valuable player in 1950. He was retired from Southern Railroad as a Track Supervisor where he was employed for over 34 years. He attended Cedar Rock Church.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Byrd Moss; children, William Lanier and Patty Moss, Walter Daniel and Lonnie Moss, Timothy Wayne and Debbie Moss and Stephanie Moss High and Lewis; grandchildren, Brent Moss, Brittany Moss Hamby, Joseph Moss, Kristy Moss Williams, Brandy Moss Harrison, Heather Moss, Danielle Moss Phillips, Katy Moss Bagwell, Tyler Moss, Kaylee Freels and Alyssa Freels; Eight great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Lanier King, Gloria and Tony King; brother, Oliver S. Moss, special friend, Beverley White and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters Martha Almond and Helen Robinson
Funeral services for W. J. Moss will be Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Pastor Greg Johns and Mr. Rudy Mangham will officiate.
