Mr. Zack Olin Carter peacefully passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 11, 2023, at his residence after an extended illness. He was surrounded by his devoted Family at the time of his death. Zack was a self-employed plumber and HVAC contractor by profession. He was well known and respected in Butts County and surrounding counties where he performed his skill for over 55 years. He was the fifth of six children born to the late Hubert and Sara Knowles Carter on Thursday, November 2, 1939, in Jackson, where he grew up and spent his entire life. When he wasn’t working, he could be found in the woods, hunting or on the lake fishing, after his illness he started watching Yellowstone, and he didn’t miss an episode.
Zack is survived by his wife of 53 years Janie Elaine Carter, daughters, Frankie Carter Clack and April Carter, daughter and son-in-law Brandy and Butch Nieman, two grandchildren: Nick Crank and Carter Nieman. Along with his parents, Zack is preceded in death by his infant son, Noel Carter and his five sisters: Virginia Leverette, Gwen Hudgins, Catherine Kinard, Betty Fouche and Patsy Ewing.

Funeral services for Mr. Zack Olin Carter will be held Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 2 PM in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, Mr. Rudy Mangham will officiate. Burial will follow in the Jackson City Cemetery. You may visit with the Family Sunday immediately prior to the Service, beginning at noon or at their residence, 182 Deptula Rd., Jackson.
